Questions people ask

How long should a dog training session be?

Shorter than most people expect. A puppy under four months holds focus for roughly two to three minutes at a time, an adolescent for about five, an adult for ten. Two or three short sessions in a day beat one long one, because the dog finishes while still keen rather than tired and frustrated.

How many days does it take to fix a behaviour?

Fourteen days is enough to change a behaviour in the situation you trained it, not everywhere. Dogs do not generalise the way people do: a recall that is solid in the garden is a different skill in a field with other dogs. That is why this plan spends its last four days deliberately re-teaching the same behaviour in harder places.

What if my dog has a setback partway through?

Go back two days and rebuild from there. A failed repetition almost always means the step was too hard, not that the dog is being stubborn. Lower the difficulty until they are succeeding about eight times out of ten, then move forward again.

Is this plan suitable for aggression or biting that breaks skin?

No. Aggression, bite incidents that break skin, severe separation distress and sudden behaviour changes need a vet or a qualified behaviourist in person, because they often have a medical or emotional root that a written plan cannot assess. Use this plan for everyday training goals only.
